Our family is not unknown to strange paranormal activity. It’s gotten to a point where besides hearing things we actually see beings or people when we’re home alone.

Now it’s escalated to where last night my niece had an actual conversation while being wide awake with her older sister at 3 am. The only problem was my niece was at my house which is an hour away. Who she had this conversation with we do not know.

Hi. I don’t know how to start my story so I’ll just jump in the middle.

I don’t know when it started, but I think after my grandmother died, 11 years ago, when I was 11.

It didn’t happen every day, but every now and then I felt like someone was in my room. First it started with the sound of someone stepping on the floor. I thought it was my cat because he would get into my room and walk around, but every time I turned the light on I could see the door was closed, and the cat wasn’t there.

Once someone broke into our house so my dad got these motion sensor lights, tiny orange ones that would sense if someone was in the room and was moving, walking around, making the alarm go off (if it was turned on, obviously). I had one in the room and every now and then I could see it going off when I was already in bed, not moving.

I’ve always thought it was my grandma. For a time I told myself I was stupid and I just missed her because she was my best friend, and I made things up.

So, for years I didn’t care if anything weird happened, I just told myself that I was indeed stupid.

I grew up in Hungary, but I met a British man and we moved in together in England. I moved here in October, and that’s when things started happening again. It’s important to know that we live in a studio apartment, so from our bed you can see the front door.

There was one night when my boyfriend woke me up because I was breathing heavily and it was obvious that I had a nightmare. I had this dream that someone was sitting next to the bed, on the floor, on my side of the bed. This person then stood up, and walked to the end of the bed and was just staring at us. I don’t know if it was a man or a female.

And other things have happened.
The sound of the cupboard door closing.

Also, my boyfriend started putting his legs over my body when he falls asleep, he told me it’s because he wants to protect me.
It takes me ages to fall asleep and I feel the presence of somebody in the flat.

My boyfriend sometimes wakes up and sits up in the middle of the night because he thinks someone is in the flat.

I used to work in a pub and there were nights when I finished late and I had to catch the bus. Every now and then I would be on the bus with dodgy men, who would scare the hell out of me. Those nights I hoped that my boyfriend was awake so he could comfort me with his cuddles – and when I got home, he really was awake. He always told me he’s had a feeling someone was in the flat or someone standing at the front door and this feeling woke him up.

Also, last Saturday we went to see our friends. When I sat down in front of my friend she looked at me puzzled and asked me if I have seen that. She told me it looked like something was burning behind me, as she could see smoke behind me. I couldn’t see anything, and that was the second she scared me: She asked me if I had brought a ghost over with us. She also told me she’s a bit sensitive to the spiritual things.

We’ve talked about this with my boyfriend – I’ve asked him if he thought this thing was a man or a woman, and he’s said he thinks it’s an old lady. I think so too.

I don’t know if it’s my grandma or not. I don’t know what to think. All I know is that it’s been 11 years since she died and I still cry every time I think about it, and I’m still sensitive about it because it feels like she’s left, but she’s still here, if it makes sense.

Sometimes I feel like it’s not her and then I get worried but my boyfriend told me he thinks if it was anything bad it would’ve hurt us already.
