Someone close to me says that a “shadow person” is following them around, calling their name, and if he doesn’t answer, it says his full name. What could this be?

Is the shadow person a flat 1 dimensional person? Or does it have a 3D form?
Shadow people are one dimensional, they appear as shadows on a surface, they don’t interact with humanity. A ghost can look like a 3D shadow, and call out and interact with the living, so can a demon, but the energy around demons is very negative, so unless the friend says they are very frightened, its more likely to be a ghost.
Perhaps Renirc can say what happened about the situation, since it was September last year when this question was posted.
